Kodaline album cover and poster

Digipak/Album covers

From the collection of album covers by Kodaline, we can see a recurring pattern when it comes to settings/location. Each of the images feature some sort of naturalistic element. The images are very basic in terms of a narrative/hidden meaning, they mostly just portray nature as a simplistic illustration of light and positivity. Our video will demonstrate how escapism to the primitive surroundings of nature can relieve the stress of modern culture. There is almost a romantic element to the album covers below, a beach is something we often associate with romance and love.
These particular album covers comply to what's typical in the indie genre, few indie rock album covers feature images of the bands themselves.

The font in each of the EP covers and their début album cover are the same, though the colour occasionally changes; this creates continuity and synergy throughout the bands career. This establishes an identity for the band, things that will remain recognisable for years to come.

Posters

The posters feature the four band members stand in relatively normal position, they wear black and grey clothing, this is not only typical of rock bands, but is also very apparent in Kodalines live performances. They perhaps wear black to remove the 'smoke and mirrors' concept and would prefer to be depicted as the most honest version of themselves as possible.

This is a direction I want to subvert in my magazine advert, as I am particularly drawn to the aesthetic look of lucidity and surreal imagery.

Website www.kodaline.com

The colour scheme of the website is in complete monochrome until you highlight the link/image with your mouse. This could be to make the navigation easier for the reader, or to create a stylistic image. Either way the colour scheme suits the persona of Kodaline, the colour black can often be associate with them. The format of the website is also very simplistic, which is something that Kodaline have embraced in their clothing, album covers and music videos.
